Once upon a time... Not so very far away... There existed the civilization of Atlantis. To most of us, Atlantis conjures up mystical, magical and intriguing images—even for those of us not convinced it ever existed. But, according to readings of the famous psychic, Edgar Cayce, Atlantis did indeed exist.

Its formation marked the beginning of what Cayce called the third root race, the Atlantian race, and was preceded by the Lemurian civilization.

Atlantis was located in the North Atlantic Ocean. The eastern seaboard of the United States, then mostly underwater, comprised the coastal lowlands of Atlantis. It extended to the Gulf of Mexico and as far as the Mediterranean Sea. The island of Bimini off the coast of Florida was a part of the continent, as were the Bahamas.

Cayce predicted Atlantian land would rise again and that Poseidia, near the Bimini Islands, would be among the first portions to rise. He said evidence would begin appearing in the 1960s. And in 1969 and 1970, man-made structures were discovered on submerged land area in Bahamian waters off the coast of Florida, seemingly confirming the Cayce information.

Atlantis has fascinated humankind for hundreds of years. The earliest known writings about Atlantis came from Plato more than 2400 years ago, chronicled in his works, TIMAEUS and CRITIAS. Many others followed in Plato’s footsteps, among them Ignatius Donnelly, Lewis Spence, and Charles Berlitz. The A.R.E. (Association for Research and Enlightenment, the organization that catalogued all the Edgar Cayce readings) has the Egerton Sykes collection of books on Atlantis in its library, and they fill four walls of an eight-foot-square-room from top to bottom. That’s a lot of information. But for the purposes of this article, the focus will be on the Cayce material.

Edgar Cayce gave readings by going into a trance state and responding to questions posed to him. During his lifetime, he gave over 14,000 psychic readings, and the vast majority of those were recorded by a stenographer. He imparted information on Atlantis in more than 700 readings—most of them life readings, as opposed to health readings—over a 21-year period. According to Cayce, the history of Atlantis spans 188,000 years.

It began in 198,000 B.C., when the Third Root Race began descending on Atlantis for the first time.

These luminous soul beings arrived as thought projections. They were fourth dimensional level of etheric mind creations (keep in mind our current physical world only embodies three dimensions). These soul beings had been forewarned not to abandon their celestial links or they might be lost.

Some of them got caught up in the plants and animals of earth and their thoughts created new material forms from the elements of the earth. They became trapped in these grotesque forms. The legends which sprang up about mermaids, unicorns, half-beasts began here.

However, most of these soul beings materialized into a human form, which was androgynous, both male and female, and also had double souls (fully actualized male and female components of the same soul). This enabled them to avoid carnal desire, keeping higher spiritual channels open; also they were able to avoid impure relationships with the fallen souls from the last root race (Lemuria).

They evolved a third eye, which could be made to appear anywhere on the body, later becoming fixed at the back of the head. It allowed psychic visualization, and the entity could draw upon the higher Mind-force for all its needs. Atlantians could create what they visualized. Thus, they lacked for nothing.

Early Atlantians varied in body form, from giant to midget, according to personal desire. At first they could change color with the environment, like a chameleon, but later stabilized to become the ‘Red Race’.

A very peaceful people, they colonized Atlantis, using their natural psychic gifts and mastering the elements. They experienced great longevity at first, living more than 1,000 years. Because their physical form was of purer elements, their bodies were less compressed or hardened. Later, even though life spans shortened, they were able to rejuvenate the physical body, using the energy of the Tuaoi Stone.

In 106,002 B.C., Amilius (the Christ entity, who lived thirty physical lifetimes, the last as Jesus) introduced the ‘Law of One’ and progenerated (created) Lilith. The readings indicate that he intended Lilith to be a helpmate and companion. Unfortunately, by projecting the thought-form of Lilith, Amilius set the precedent for bringing the so-called ‘Things’ into existence.

When the Atlantians saw how Amilius created Lilith, they soon discovered they could use their own mental imaging abilities to generate such a creature outside themselves. But the creatures they materialized were imperfect mimics, grotesque, hapless creatures which became known as the ‘Things’, destined to be permanent slaves.

The Atlantians also began to separate physically, becoming two separate sexes, like lower mortals. This brought great divisions among the Atlantians. Some defended separation of the sexes and experimenting with human and animal sexually, others were very opposed.

Deeply troubled, Amilius communed with the heavenly hosts and the Holy Spirit for many days. When he returned to the Atlantians, he presented them with the Law of One. "The Lord thy God is One. All come from the One, all must return to the One. Oneness is the law that binds the universe together. That One is the Light. Worship only the One. Declare yourselves sons and daughters of Light, and children of the Law of One." (According to the Cayce readings, Atlantis was where the concept of one God originated.)

For a long time Amilius ruled, the Atlantians followed the Law of One, and they lived in great enlightenment.

The priesthood was established for the perpetuation of the law. They became known as the White Brotherhood. They had the ability to transport themselves in thought or body wherever desired.

The mighty crystal, the Tuaoi stone, and the sacred stone spheres in every temple, were entrusted to the Brotherhood. The Tuaoi stone was a giant energy accumulator of pure quartz crystal. Early on, it was the source of spiritual and mental contact with the ‘Unseen Forces’. The stone spheres in the temples were of polished granite and carried a magnetic influence through which the Spirit of One spoke to the people.

The Tuaoi stone was shaped like a large cylinder, cut with many prismatic facets so that its capstone could gather and centralize the power concentrated within it. It was housed in a special temple, in a domed enclosure that could be rolled back, and was tuned to incoming vibrations from far-off Arcturus, as well as the sun. Its initial use was spiritual, but it would later be used as a power source.

Atlantian technology became highly advanced. They discovered the principal of the ‘nightside’, or negative forces of nature versus the positive forces. They understood particle physics, electromagnetism, solar power. They developed atomic power, light rays (including the "death ray"); they forged rare metal alloys. They manufactured liquid air, compressed air, and rubber. They used astronomy and astrology, and mastered gravity. They constructed wingless spacecraft which moved at incredible speeds throughout outer space, or traveled under the seas. They had pleasure craft, which moved over land or water.

And yet, in the midst of incredible prosperity, physical comforts and luxuries, dissensions and divisions began to erupt throughout the land. There was increasing moral decadence, while those of the pure androgynous lineage fought a losing battle as they attempted to persuade the wandering Atlantians to return to the Law of One.

Saddened by the decaying state of Atlantis, Amilius ordered the establishment of the first sacrificial altars, to remember and honor God with the first fruits from the harvest, to place God before self. These were intended for crop sacrifices; however, in keeping with the rapidly deteriorating moral situation, the altars came to be used for blood sacrifices.

Then Amilius departed the earth plane, to be followed by a new leader, Esai. Under Esai, Atlantis evolved into an even more powerful technical society. The Atlantians freely roamed the planet with a formidable arsenal of advanced weapons. No one challenged them, and thus they coexisted peacefully with their neighbors.

The Atlantian society continued to deteriorate, and along with it, the natural psychic abilities of the Atlantians.

The Tuaoi stone became the power source for all forms of transportation and energy needs. Although it still remained under the auspices of the priesthood, it was no longer used as a means for communicating with the forces of Light for spiritual guidance. It became known as the Firestone. The granite spheres in the temples became the electromagnetic connection between the Firestone and the individual motor-element of the thousands of crafts in use.

Additionally, the Firestone was used for destructive purposes. The same energy which could heal and regenerate a body was tuned at higher vibratory levels to deal instant death and devastation to any material target. The death ray, similar to a laser, could emit death-dealing cosmic rays at various intensities and depths.

A new threat arose from rapidly multiplying wild beasts, some of them monstrous, across the world. In 50,722 B.C., Asapha, the ruler of Egypt convened a world meeting to discuss the problem of the fearful beasts. Forty-four representatives from other countries attended. Most of the attendees urged care in the use of weapons against the beasts.

During this time, a new faction was gaining power in Atlantis. The leader of the group was Belial, a very charismatic and cunning troublemaker. He and his followers scorned the Law of One. They owned and abused large numbers of the ‘Things’ (those created earlier) for slaves and sexual gratification. They were opposed to the use of special electrotherapy and instructional centers for rehabilitating the Things and helping them develop a spiritual awareness. They also pushed for drastic measures to wipe out the wild animals.

First Belial convinced Esai to use the death ray to kill the animals.

Next Belial convinced Asal-Sine, the initiate in charge of the death ray, to tune it very high and project it deep into the bowels of the earth. Not only were the beasts eliminated in their lairs, but the whole continent erupted in seismic activity and destructive fire.

Volcanic eruptions rained death and destruction on Atlantis, and it broke into five islands. But in time, the Atlantian society recovered and resumed its former ways. The sons of Belial continued to multiply and spread their wickedness.

The deterioration continued. Just preceding the second break-up of Atlantis, the people were on the brink of civil war. The rebellious Sons of Belial sought to overthrow the rule of the Law of One and replace it with their own lawless rule.

The Sons were unhappy because the number of Things to be their slaves was diminishing. Many were being healed and helped by children of the Law of One. The androgynous soul-beings capable of progenerating more Things were steadily diminishing as material atoms become more solidified in the Atlantians (and their bodies became more physical and less ethereal).

The Sons of Belial seized weapons and airships, breaking Atlantis' long record of peace, as they made warring raids on other countries and bring back large numbers of captives to be their slaves. They also began the practice of offering human sacrifices to Baal.

The ruling council of Atlantis vacillated, avoiding taking decisive action against the Sons of Belial. Basically, the Atlantians chose to do nothing. But around 28,000 B.C., nature stepped in and violent upheavals once more shook the islands. When the tumult was over, only three islands remained: Og, Aryan, and Poseidia.

There were 133 million souls on the earth at this time. Life went on, but some Atlantians began the exodus to other lands. Specifically mentioned in the Cayce readings were Egypt, Morocco, the Pyrenees, the Yucatan peninsula, Peru, as well as parts of North America. The primary influx of Atlantians into North America were the followers of Belial—more on that later.

Around 12,000 B.C., the 4th Root Race (Adamic Race) began when Amilius created the first ‘perfect’ humans. He realized the trapped souls on the earth needed a way out of their self-created dilemma. He developed a prototype of a new physical form, one which could not crossbreed with the animal population (the beginning prototype for modern humans).

When the prototype was ready, Amilius projected five races simultaneously in five places in the earth. These five races, representing the five senses were:

• Black Race - Upper African Region ( Sudan, Upper Egypt)
• Brown Race - The Andes
• Red Race - Atlantis
• Yellow Race - Gobi Land
• White Race - Mt. Ararat, Iran, Carpathian Mountains

Amilius chose to enter into one of the prototypes, as Adam (Upper Adam). He came in at Eden, a sacred city in Poseidia of Atlantis. Eve followed, created in the same sexual separation process the original androgynous Atlantians had practiced.

As Adam, Amilius committed a voluntary sacrifice by re-entering the earth in flesh form. As such, he was subject to the human condition, and the resulting proneness to sin. As the Christ, he would begin the first of thirty physical lifetimes, culminating as Jesus. (You can read more on this theory in the book, Lives of the Master, by Glenn Sanderfur.)

Around 11,670 B.C., Adam fell from grace at 330 years old, apparently when he yielded to the carnal temptations of the flesh. According to Cayce, Amilius first became aware he was to be the Savior of the world "When He fell in Eden."

With Adam's ‘stumble’, the fallen race of ‘gods’ could reverse its downward course and begin its painful, long ascent back to God as the race of man. Adam (with Eve) relocated out of Atlantian Eden to the foothills of the Caucasus and Carpathian mountains (second Eden).

In 11,540 B.C., Seth was born to Adam and Eve in the Caucasian Eden.

In 11,070 B.C., Adam died at the age of 930.

In 11,048 B.C., Enoch (Amilius) born to Jared.

10,600 B.C. saw the beginning of the final Atlantian breakup, which continued over a period of time. Poseidia, in the Sargasso Sea, was the first to sink, presumably several centuries before Aryan and Og. Mass Atlantian migration to other countries continued throughout those years.

The children of the Law of One managed to save records of Atlantis. These records were hidden deep in pyramid chambers in three different places:

* Pyramid of records, on Poseidia (sealed by the sage Hept-supht)

* In Egypt, in the Hall of Records, beneath the Sphinx

* In a pyramid beneath Mayan ruins in Yucatan, carried there by Iltar.

Followers of Belial were the last to migrate. Unwelcome in the areas settled by the children of the Law of One, they made their way to the continent to the west; to what is now part of southwest America ( Colorado and Nevada).

Although the original Red Race, most Atlantians lost this characteristic through intermarriage with other races. The Sons of Belial, however, kept the racial strain intact, evolving into the various groups of American Indians.

10,556 B.C. - 10,390 B.C., Ra-Ta entered Egypt. Enoch and Ra-Ta began and completed the 100-year construction of the Great Pyramid (which according to Cayce readings is much older than most experts believe it to be). Many Atlantians helped with the construction.

Around 10,014 B.C., the third and final Atlantian breakup began. The earth saw a 30-degree pole shift and Noah's flood. Most Atlantian technology was lost, either beneath the waves of the Atlantic, or by assimilation into the technology of other societies.

Atlantis was no more.

What can we learn from Atlantis? This is an important question, as the Edgar Cayce readings indicate many Atlantian souls have begun reincarnating into physical bodies (beginning in the 20 th century), drawn back by the technology which is now approaching what they once knew. (Keep in mind that Cayce died in 1942, so he was a fairly modern psychic.) Just as they were in Atlantis, all reincarnating Atlantians will tend to be extremists. Cayce predicted they will either excel or sink to the depths.

Those being reincarnated today may once again greatly influence world events. They will again face the same opportunities and responsibilities. But since Atlantis was not able to rise above dark influences, we must grapple with the same timeless lesson Atlantians faced: Spiritual versus material.

Fortunately, Edgar Cayce assured us that opportunities for growth and grace are never lost. If missed, they are presented again and again. The challenge of Atlantis remains one of those opportunities.

Our challenges in our country today bear a striking resemblance to those Atlantis faced. Here is our opportunity to rise above and beyond the dark days of our times and reach for the Light and the Truth.
